Editorial Policy

Who writes these reviews?

At the moment, just me. That may change in the future, but if it does, each post will automatically have the reviewer’s name attached to it.

What do you review?

Clothing, footwear, fashion accessories, skins, hair, and anything else that makes an avatar look good. The item has to be free or priced at a maximum of L$1.

I have stopped reviewing items from Freebie stores – ie places that exclusively distribute only free/ultra-cheap items, although I have provided a page with links to such places.  The reason I’m no longer reviewing this type of store is because the risk is too high that items on offer are ripped copies of items distributed without the creator’s permission. I am therefore only reviewing items distributed by the designers themselves.

How do you choose what to review?

Mostly it’s things I find myself, either at random, or via Search. If I find something I think is worthy of mention, I will include it.

If a designer wants me to look at their freebie/dollarbie, I will do so, and if I publish a review I will state in the post whether the item was something a designer asked me to look at. However after some recent drama, I reserve the right to decline to include the item in the blog. I am no longer going to publish any reviews of items I do not consider to be good quality or otherwise noteworthy. Therefore only totally positive reviews will be published.

Having said that, what I will NOT do is decline to post something simply because it’s not my personal taste. If it’s a good item, even if it’s something I wouldn’t normally wear, I will review it positively. Personal opinion isn’t relevent here; even if I don’t particularly like something, there may be twenty thousand other people who do.

Why aren’t you going to review the not-so-good items any more?

Two reasons. Firstly, because the aim of this blog is to show residents where they can get good free stuff. It’s not intended to be a consumer-watchdog. Just a source of good ideas.

Second, because I don’t have the time or the desire to deal with the fallout and drama that a less-than-100%-positive review causes.

What’s included in the review?

Always a slurl to where it can be obtained, at least one snapshot, a description of the item and what I think of it, and a cost, if any. I will also state if the item was found by myself or whether the designer requested a review.
